



Pattullo Bridge – Surrey, BC
The project is located on Hwy 1a over the Fraser River connecting Surrey, BC with New Westminster, BC. The bridge structure is a major highway structure between the two cities in Greater Vancouver.
The high volume traffic was never impacted during the daytime hours; all overhead work was completed in the evening with detailed traffic controls in place. The owner’s established the contract consultant (Buckland Taylor) the owner of the structure was Trans Link. The specification called for the center span (450′) and the two-anchor arm spans (350′) be sandblasted and painted.
The specifications called for an SSPC-Guide 6 – Class 1a containment system, SSPC-SP10 (Near White Blast), International Paints (organic zinc, epoxy, urethane) coating system be applied. All large seams and connections required one coat of pre-primer penetrating sealer material.
Our firm provided third party inspection (Two NACE Certified Coating) inspectors to Clara Industrial Services Ltd. for the duration of the project. MISCO provided Quality Control Management using current ISO inspection standards. The project was completed on schedule and met the requirements of the specification as specified. The project has a five (5) warranty requirement.



Rainbow Bridge – Niagara Falls, ON
The project is located at an international bridge crossing at Niagara Falls, ON/NY. The contractor was Clara Industrial Services Ltd. of Thunder Bay, ON.
The contractor was required to provide the requirements for surface preparation, painting, thermal spray coatings and application of a sealer coat. The area required were; girders, floor beams, diaphragms, catwalks, wind bracing, exterior of spandrel column and arch spans, bridge rails and parapets.
MISCO Inspection provide a quality control project manager to provide detailed inspection to ensure the contractor meets the requirements of the project. The project required a high standard of surface preparation as listed under SSPC-SP-5 (White Blast) quality. The project required full time inspection for the duration of the of the production operations running up to 18 months.
The contractor was SSPC-QP-1 and QP-2 Certified Contractor. The contractor required MISCO to provide NACE Certified Coating Inspection for the duration of the contract and two inspectors were required to maintain inspection on three containments at one time.
Detailed testing was completed on a daily basis, utilizing bend tests and adhesion tests under ASTM D4541 Type 111 gauge. The project was completed on schedule meeting the detailed requirements of a US Consulting firm. Detailed quality control inspections were required to meet the requirements of the project. Our firm was able to support additional inspectors as required to meet the production requirements.
Peace River Bridge – Peace River, AB
The project is located on Highway 2 over Peace River in the Town of Peace River. The Peace River Bridge is the only link between east and west parts of the Town of Peace River. The highway has a very heavy traffic volumes at peak traffic period. Two way traffic with a minimum width clearance of 7.5 m shall be maintained on the bridge during these peak periods.
The bridge consists of one rolled beam span (west approach) of 28.9, four steel tied arch main spans of 92.3 m, 124.5 m, 124.5 m and three steel rolled beam spans (east approach) o f 28.9 m, 18.6 m, 19.8 m providing an overall superstructure length of approximately 572.1 m.
Our firm provided third party inspection and consulting services to Reid Crowther & Associates on behalf of Alberta Infrastructures to support the on site Quality Assurance, Safety Supervision and Contract Management for the duration of the nine months.
We provided NACE Certified Coatings Inspection, Construction Supervision and Engineering expertise for the duration of this project. The project was completed on scheduled by HMW Construction and the sub-contractor was J. Mason and Sons Sandblasting and Painting Ltd.
